The purpose of any university is to coordinate research activities in any community. At the heart of this research is problem identification and an enquiry into how to solve the problem identified. This often involves

  • Identification of the problem;
  • Collecting data from the population of interest;
  • Describing characteristics about the data collected (sample);
  • Making inferences to the whole population; and of course,
  • Reporting on the findings.

Research could be quantitative or qualitative in nature, but the goal is the same.

This section is going to cover research and how it can be conducted in the 21st century.
